Could you be a triathlon star?

3 Aug 2009

'trigold' is a fantastic opportunity for a runner with a swimming background to transfer to triathlon and become a gold medallist in London 2012. The search is on to find high calibre athletes who have the drive and determination to move into triathlon and bring home Britain’s first Olympic Triathlon medal.

It is a fully supported, professionally run fastrack programme for runners to become Olympic triathletes. Do you fit the bill?

You will only have one chance to win gold at your home Olympics, so seize the opportunity to be at the pinnacle of Britain’s most exciting sport.

What does 'trigold' involve?

If your application is successful, you will be invited to a three day assessment at the National Performance Centre in Loughborough where you will get your first taste of triathlon and meet the elite performance team.

Those of you who make the grade will then start your journey in October with a three month programme focussing on the core disciplines of swimming, cycling and running. Following this you will progress to a nine month scholarship programme which aims to provide the required skills to join our World Class Programme at the end of 2010 season.

Selected triathletes will be given high performance coaching and full science and medical services overseen by British Triathlon Head Coach, Joel Filliol.

A personal coaching mentor will provide you with day to day support ensuring a successful transition into the sport.

British Triathlon will provide regular sessions with Commonwealth silver medallist and 'trigold' ambassador Andrea Whitcombe, who has successfully made the transition from athletics to triathlon. Andrea has become a highly successful member of the Great Britain triathlon team and believes that 'trigold' will provide the World Class support system needed to win gold at the Olympics.

'trigold' will also provide the VIP treatment with triathletes being invited to the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series race in Hyde Park, London on 15 August. This will be your first opportunity to see where you could be racing when representing Great Britain at London 2012.

All triathletes accepted onto 'trigold' will receive full financial support, high performance equipment and accommodation to ensure you can achieve your Olympic gold dream.

At the end of the nine month scholarship if you show the potential to progress to senior international level, you will be invited to become a full member of the British Triathlon World Class Programme. If successful you will benefit from the full range of financial and support services provided by the programme to help you become the London 2012 Olympic triathlon gold medalist.
