"The Welsh Language is an essential and enduring component in the history, culture and social fabric of our nation". Rhodri Morgan AM, First Minister, Iaith Pawb 2003.
Sport Wales recognises the role Sport and Physical Activity can make towards the Welsh Assembly’s Government’s aim to create a "bilingual nation" and as such has taken a proactive approach to work through the medium of Welsh in its own business and whenever possible with its partners as well.
Sport Wales like all public bodies is legally obliged to have in place a Welsh Language Scheme.
The updated version (2007) of the Sport Wales's Welsh Language Scheme has been prepared under the terms of the 1993 Welsh Language Act and in accordance with guidelines issued by the Welsh Language Board.
The scheme sets out the Sport Wales's principle of treating the Welsh and English Languages as equal and the scheme forms part of the Sport Wales's wider Equality Strategy.
The Sport Wales Welsh language Scheme is due to be updated in 2011.
