Whatever your reason for not getting active, lack of opportunity should not be one of them. In Wales we’re blessed with a bountiful supply of mountains, cycle routes, walking trails, lakes and rivers, so whatever your interest there is sure to be something out there for you – and most of it is completely free.

I always make the most of the outdoors when I’m at home and the variety in the landscape makes a cycle much more of a pleasure than a chore. And the same goes for whatever activity you choose, whether it’s a wander through the Brecon Beacons, a hike in Snowdonia or a cycle along the Taff Trail.

You should always aim to make exercise fun. When you exercise or take part in any sort of physical activity, remember, you’re not trying to make it into the Welsh Commonwealth Games squad. Do it at your own pace and enjoy it!David Davies

I think it’s really important to add variety to your workout. Not only will you be working on different areas of your fitness, you’ll be far less likely to lose interest and give up. The important thing is to enjoy it, whether it’s swimming, salsa, aerobics, hiking, tennis or tai chi.
