8-12 year olds - Free Swimming

Whatever your swimming ability get down to your local leisure centre over the holidays and have fun with your friends. Swimming is not all about swimming up and down lanes but much, much more. Yes, learning to swim is important as it gives you a life-long skill, but more importantly gives you the opportunity to enjoy other aquatic sports.

If you can’t swim then it means you can’t sail, row, play water polo or even play in the sea with your friends.

Check out your local leisure centre as there are plenty of sessions taking place over the holidays, where you could have a go at canoeing, water polo, kayaking or life saving. Places are limited on these sessions so book early to avoid disappointment.

You could also be dancing away with your friends to the latest hits as many pools hold aqua discos so contact your local leisure centre to find out more. Or just have fun with the many inflatable toys available in the pool – some leisure centres have inflatable jet skis – sounds pretty cool!
