SIX NEW MEMBERS APPOINTED TO SPORTS COUNCIL FOR WALES

Adele Baumgardt is from London and currently lives in Bristol. She works in Cardiff as Director of Policy and Partnership at the Equal Opportunities Commission in Wales. She works extensively with employers in Wales and manages the provision of advice on equality to employers in all sectors. Adele also leads the EOC work in Wales on the new Gender Equality Duty and the requirements it places on public bodies in Wales. Under this banner she has worked specifically on issues surrounding increasing participation in sport and physical activity for under-represented groups, in particular women and girls.
Adele's key area of professional interest is gender mainstreaming and in particular the gender budgeting tool of gender mainstreaming. In 2006 she gained an MSc in Equality and Diversity form the University of Cardiff. She chairs the Gender Budget Group for Wales, and co-chairs the Women's Budget Group UK.
Cllr Robert (Hag) Harris lives and works in Lampeter, where he is proprietor of a music and film shop and is a qualified social worker. He has represented Lampeter on Dyfed and later Ceredigion County Council since 1981 and is a member of Lampeter Town Council. Hag Harris has extensive experience in local government and he is presently Cabinet Member for Department of Environmental Services and Housing, Ceredigion County Council, Chair of Ceredigion Health Alliance, Health Challenge Wales, Ceredigion Champion, Member of Ceredigion Health Board, Chair of Ceredigion Homelessness Forum Chair of Dyfed Powys Courts Board and a member of Lampeter Swimming Pool Management Committee. He was previously Mayor of Lampeter Town Council and Chair of Ceredigion Sports Council.
Robert Harris was Welsh National Orienteering Coach and Senior Champion, representing Wales and was also a Football referee with 15 years experience including the Football League of Wales.
