To get you on track towards a fitter and healthier new you, the BHF has called on the services of Leisure Centres and Fitness Clubs. This week eight centres in Rhondda Cynon Taff will be holding Help a Heart Workouts, featuring rowing challenges, aerobathons and skipping challenges. Working out will not only kick start your own fitness campaign to help your heart, by contributing £1 you will also be supporting the campaign and help raise vital funds for the BHF’s work.

For women taking part in the workouts, the bigger challenge is to maintain the exercise momentum and avoid slipping back to your old routine. The good news is that a little goes a long way. Moderate intensity physical activity for 30 minutes five days a week is all you need to commit - that’s just 1.5% of your total time in a seven-day week.

Our bodies were made to move. This doesn’t have to mean pounding the treadmill or sweating it out in an aerobics class, there are numerous activities out there to get your heart pumping. Any physical activity that makes you feel warm and slightly out of breath will benefit your heart, making it stronger.
