Ysgol Clywedog in Wrexham has become the first secondary school in the UK to install a Swimfit poolside unit and will offer dedicated Swimfit sessions in a bid to increase the activity levels of its pupils.

Installed as part of the ‘5x60’ programme – a Welsh initiative funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and Sports Council for Wales to increase sports opportunities available to the country’s youngsters – the Swimfit unit has been funded by Kellogg’s Swim Active and was installed at the school last month.

Developed in conjunction with Speedo, the Swimfit unit is a valuable resource for anyone looking to improve their pool workout. Providing a range of easy-to-view training programmes, the five-foot unit houses specialist training aids such as floats and pull-buoys and includes advice for improving technique.

Swimfit was introduced at Clywedog High School following demand from pupils who cited swimming as one of the top four activities they would like to do more of.
