Nicky Robinson and Nick McLeod with Tom Russell, a pupil at Llanishen Fach primary schoolAs the curtain rises on the start of the 2007 Rugby World Cup campaign, a myriad of Welsh primary school children are preparing to emulate the likes of Tom Shanklin, Dwayne Peel and Martyn Williams on the rugby pitch, as a series of Dragon Sport and Future Blues Tag Rugby World Cup festivals kick off in Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda-Cynon-Taff and Carmarthenshire.

Dragon Sport Cardiff is hooking onto the Cardiff Blues’ Future Blues programme, which is running a series of rugby workshops in primary schools throughout the Blues region, introducing children to their first taste of rugby during World Cup month.

One of the first sessions kicked off at Llanishen Fach primary school in Rhiwbina yesterday (September 19th), where Cardiff Blues fly-half Nicky Robinson and Blues utility back Nick McLeod arrived to pass on their tips to aspiring young rugby stars.

"I think it’s important to introduce the kids to different skills at primary school age because they’re so enthusiastic and ready to learn, and it’s great to see a mix of boys and girls getting involved," said McLeod.
