DSW – the Sports Council for Wales’ lottery funded scheme which develops community based sporting and recreational opportunities for people with disabilities – is on the lookout for willing recruits to its Volunteering Counts initiative.

The scheme has so far recruited and trained over 600 volunteers and coaches, but with clubs and activities expanding year on year more volunteers are needed to keep the opportunities open for all and maintain a level playing field in sport. It doesn’t have to be a huge commitment – once, twice, every week, whatever suits you.

Whether you’re a sporting novice or a seasoned veteran, everybody has a part to play – be it coal-face or back stage. With disability specific and sport specific training, DSW will find the right role for you and put you on track to deliver a support a programme that makes sport fun for all.

But while experience is not a pre-requisite, to bring out the best in the players and participants, you’ll need enthusiasm in abundance and a real desire to make a difference.
