ROBINSON AND MCLEOD KICK OFF DRAGON'S NEW TERM
20 Sep 2007
Indeed, recent evidence published by the Sports Council for Wales Children’s Participation Survey has revealed that the number of primary school children regularly taking part in sport and physical activity in Wales has increased by 3% points over the last two years.
44% of children aged seven to eleven years in Wales now take part in the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity, five days a week compared to 41% in 2004.
Head of Education and Training at the Sports Council for Wales, Anne Hamilton, explains:
"Children need to do 60 minutes of physical activity five times a week and Dragon Sport plays a key role in helping them achieve this. It gives them opportunities to take part and to gain the skills necessary to cope when they reach secondary school age."
