Boxing Participation

Boxing participation has increased over the past decade. Much of this increase has been due to a rise in female participation.

Boxing appears to be most popular in the Vale of Glamorgan. The average boxer had participated more than 7 times in the previous four weeks.

Profile of Boxing Participants

Most boxers are male, despite increasing numbers of female participants. Most are in the 15-34 age group; amateur boxers are not allowed to box after the age of 34. Most boxers are in social classes B, C or D.

Provision for Boxing

The Welsh Institute of Sport is used for national training and competition.
