Additional Information

Caving Participation

The adult (aged 15+) participation rate - 0.1% in the latest survey - is too low to provide any meaningful trend data. Caving participants are more likely to be male than female. When asked how many times they had been caving in the last 4 weeks, the mean was around 7 times.

Provision for Caving

The caves used for sporting purposes in Wales are found within the carboniferous limestone outcrop of the South Wales basin. The Sports Council for Wales Natural Facilities Database contains details of 38 caving sites in Wales.
