Cricket participation is highest in Ceredigion, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Powys. When asked how often they had played in the last four weeks, the average outdoor cricketer had played around four times.

Profile of Cricket Participants

Most cricket participants are male. Around two thirds are in the 15-34 age group, about a third are in the 35-54 age group, and a very small number are aged 55+. Most participants are in social classes B or C.

Provision for Cricket

Cricket is played throughout Wales on pitches provided by clubs, local authorities and educational establishments. County cricket is played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff (which also stages occasional one day internationals), and at Swansea and Colwyn Bay. The National Cricket Centre, based at Sophia Gardens, provides specialist facilities to help Wales’s most talented performers develop.
