Volleyball Participation

% Adult Participation (aged 15+)

Although it is difficult to make definite assumptions about trends based on a very low participation rate, it does appear from surveys as if volleyball participation has fallen in recent years.

Profile of Volleyball Players

Currently, there are roughly equal numbers of male and female participants. Participants are more likely to be in the 15-24 age group.

Provision for Volleyball

Although it can be played outdoors – with, for example, beach volleyball becoming more popular – most competitive volleyball is played indoors in sports halls. It needs a minimum overall space of 24 x 17 metres and a clear height of 8 metres at club level and above.
